Melanoma Research Foundation Receives $25,000 MassMutual Foundation Grant
Southfield, Michigan, August 5, 2019 – Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF), the largest independent organization devoted to melanoma research, education and advocacy, has received a $25,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program. MRF is one of thirty-two organizations nationally to receive an award. The MassMutual Foundation made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Manuel Amezcua, President, CEO of MassMutual Great Lakes in Michigan.
“We are stronger when we come together as a community, and our Community Service Awards program recognizes a group of MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation. “We are proud of the time and energy Manuel dedicates to better his community and delighted to support the great work MassMutual financial professionals do with organizations across the country.”
The MRF’s mission is to eradicate melanoma by accelerating medical research while educating to and advocating for the melanoma community."We are so grateful for the sound expertise and steadfast leadership that has defined Manny’s service to the MRF and the melanoma community,” said Kyleigh LiPira, MBA, MRF CEO. “This incredibly generous gift from MassMutual will have an immediate, powerful and lasting impact on melanoma patients and their loved ones by accelerating the pace of life-saving research and treatment development.”
Manuel Amezcua has been with MassMutual Great Lakes for two years. He has been committed to MRF since 2012, and has dedicated nearly 200 hours of time and talent in 2018 alone, to help the organization grow and flourish.
“I am very pleased that my dedication to the MRF has been recognized by the MassMutual Foundation,” said Manuel Amezcua. “This grant will provide much needed funding to continue supporting our community through melanoma research, education, and providing resources to help patients and their families manage diagnosis and treatment.
