What many would consider to be a job or career, he considers a calling and a mandate.

For Maurice Miller, Jr., money is much more than dollars and cents. He’s not just on a mission to gain greater wealth for himself or his immediate family—he’s intentional about helping families and communities as a whole to gain financial wisdom and build long-term wealth.

While he is passionate about providing permanent financial literacy resources to people of all backgrounds, he especially targets those in underserved communities who, for generations, have not had access to the proper wealth-building tools. Plain and simple, he seeks to give others what his family lacked when he grew up: access.

Maurice has served small business owners, executives, professionals, and retirees through the financial services industry since 2005. Three of those years, he served in operations, while he’s been a financial adviser/planner since 2008.

He holds a B.S.B.A. in Finance from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH.

Maurice also holds the Series 7 & 66 Securities License, health and life insurance agent

license, State of Michigan continuing education instructor’s license for CPA’s, and

the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (™) and Chartered Financial Consultant® professional designations.

Maurice is driven, consistent, compassionate, and an educator at heart.

Born to unwed parents, who split by the time he was one year old, Maurice realized early on that a big part of the reason they struggled was because they had two incomes, going in two different directions, in two different households. But it wasn’t until he attended a predominantly mainstream college that he was exposed to people who took family trips, had family vacation homes, and parents who could pay for college tuition out of pocket. At that point, he knew he had to be missing something. His parents had never had access to a financial advocate or coach, nor the vital tools that create general wealth.

Maurice’s parents have yet to achieve the American Dream of home ownership, but in his 20’s, Maurice bought his first home.  He also recalls when he went off to college, there were no resources set aside to help pay for his education.  Today, all of Maurice’s children have accounts dedicated to their education.

Maurice’s passion for economic empowerment comes from the fact that he knows personally how the trajectory of a family and community can change through access to wealth building tools.

Because he knows firsthand what it’s like to lack financial wisdom, Maurice walks clientele through a precise, thorough process.  He positions clients to take a big picture approach by helping them achieve their financial goals in a concise, sensible manner. Educating clientele on the “why” behind every financial decision along the way, he simplifies their complex needs and goals. Clientele who work with Maurice leave with a clear, written roadmap to their financial future, which focuses on six key areas of financial management.

Maurice believes the key to long-term financial success is education, which is why he has partnered with organizations such as The University of Phoenix, Michigan works of Southfield, The Southfield Public Library, Redford Service Learning Academy Chartered School, and various local churches to provide free financial literacy classes to adults and children.

Maurice is a Board member of The Detroit Chapter of The Society of Financial Service Professionals, and is also a member of the CFP® board’s DISCIPLINARY AND ETHICS COMMISSION.

Maurice has been blissfully married to his wife since 2012 and has five children that he and his wife adore.  When he’s not promoting economic empowerment, Maurice enjoys spending time with his friends and relatives, and playing as much golf as possible.
